I think that's cute. I would have gone. I still go to support family. I am mentally out, but am amused by the whole thing now. It's like watching paint dry, but sometimes there are really comical examples of the dissonance and stupidity which make it worthwhile to some degree.

Separation of Powers
I can see it now, like the opening of Disneyland in the '50s. One of the Heavies is being interviewed by Brother PR as the camera pans over a 3D topographic image of "God's Kingdom-100 years of fun and frolic!"
PR: So tell us a little about the park.
Heavy: Well, you see that the park is built around a central theme, the throne at the center of the park. The various areas snail around it, cascading outward toward the ample parking that will be available for visitors.
PR: You can never have enough parking!
Heavy: That's right PR. There will be plenty of parking and at $15 a car it will help defray the costs of this marvelous park. There will be bus access and areas for larger vehicles as well....Oh, by the way, no overnight parking will be allowed. But, not to worry, we are in the planning stages for an RV park just down the road.
PR: That organizational chariot just keeps moving forward!
Heavy: you got that right!
(muted chuckles)
PR: Well, tell us a little about the different themes located within the park.
Heavy: Sure. First, right behind the Kingdom Throne ride at the center of the park, which, by the way is a single rider fast paced attraction where the publisher is strapped in the car and it quickly moves through a maze of tracks, similar to a roller coaster. It is very exciting.
PR: It looks exciting.
Heavy: Oh, it is. Right now unfortunately, there is a long wait as there have been technical difficulties with the plans and engineering issues, but hey, it should be up and moving by the time the end comes.
(wheezy chuckle)
PR: Sounds a lot like the actual kingdom.
Heavy: That's right...but it'll be well worth the wait. We are hoping that the computer images and video depictions of the ride will really fuel publisher's desire to ride the ride, regardless of how long the wait is. (muted agreement)
PR: So, what's the Door-to-Door ride all about? (camera pans over the north edge of the Throne Ride and zeros in on the attraction)
Heavy: Well, it's not really a ride, its more of a hands on attraction where the publisher puts on a vest aand helmet and progresses through a "territory" of porches and stoops, dodging laser fire from irate householders. The publisher will have a laser gun of their own and will return fire. It is a high scoring attraction where publishers can compare their scores at the end of the ride, adding to the competitive spirit that we all know and love!
PR: You got that right! That should be a blast!
Heavy: (Chuckles) Yeah, a blast with a laser blaster! (pause) Oh, by the way, the laser blaster is shaped in the form of a publication, a 192 page book to be exact, with an added barrel and trigger. That way the publisher can maintain the image of "defending" the good news with every score.
(Feel free to add to the attraction list)

I'm tired of the org misquoting scholars to support there heretical NWT
by yogosans14 inday after day jws are constantly fighting with me over the internet that the nwt is the most accurate translation and then they prove it by quoting scholars from the watchtower magazines.
they tell me i'm biased and there rendering of john 1:1 as "a god" is approved by scholars but i have researched there so called "supporters" and i have found they have tooken what they said out of context to twist the scriptures to there liking.. .
dr. julius r. mantey (who is even recognized by the watchtower as a greek scholar since they quote his book on page 1158 of their kingdom interlinear translation): calls the watchtower translation of john 1:1 "a grossly misleading translation.

The KIT uses the Westcott and Hort Greek text as the basis for its translation. When the KIT was published by the ORG, I believe that its cost to the public was a mere $5-7....where else could you get a copy of the orginal greek for so cheap?
If Mantey carried it around as he traveled, as Martin states, it was probably for two reasons....1) Because it was a verifiable copy of the original text by W&H and therefore reliable for study, and 2) It proved entertaining on long trips like a video of failed motorcycle jumps

Separation of Powers
Back in October of 2011, I prayed that the Almighty help Manchester United defeat Manchester City in a soccer match. He did not. MU lost 1-6. I told my bookie that there must have been a mixup upstairs because I had promised that if MU had won, I was going to contribute all my winnings to the till when I showed up at church. But, since the Almighty did NOT listen to me, I took that as a hint that the Almighty doesn't want my money, nor does he wish me to be happy. So, I stopped believing in him, stopped betting on football matches and started a 401K.

by Separation of Powers inwhen i started the fade....i recognize that i was upset, mainly because of the desillusionment.

When I started the FADE....I recognize that I was upset, mainly because of the desillusionment. But, over the course of the past several months, I am noticing an increasing anger toward all thing ORG. It can only be described as indignation, not simply upset. I am not angry about the time I have spent, nor the experiences I have had, nor the "lost" opportunities, I accept the path I have trodden. I am angry at this thing, this thing we call the ORG.....it is only getting worse.
you?

Has growing up as a JW affected my ability to forgive ?
by troubled mind ini really don't understand the concept of forgiveness .
lately in my life several people have thrown that term around so easily ,and i am confused .
is it because we were taught to cut people off so easily as jws that i find it hard to forgive ?.
-
Separation of Powers
Forgiveness is for the forgiver, NOT the forgiven.....when you forgive...you let go off the burden of resentment...It's hard, I know....

English to Spanish differences
by StarTrekAngel ini was wondering if someone here can guide me a bit.
i have been doing some research on wt publications, specifically those that have the key writtings regarding changing doctrine.
the problem is that i am native spanish speaker and i attend a spanish congregation.

Separation of Powers
It wasn't until the late 1980's/early 1990's that the magazines started to be in sync. Before then, the Spanish magazines were customarily 2-3 months behind (if I recall correctly). Pull out the bound volume and compare side-by-side....same old crap, just published in a different month. You can thank the lack of capable translators, particularly after the purge.

2 reasons the 'overlapping anointed' idea generates no comfort for the WT writers.
by prologos in1) the general "wicked generation" has always members that live past 115 years, so without the ridicoulous overlap idea, it would have taken wt writers to 2030 for the start of pardise.. 2) the "all things take place" prophecy recorded in math 23-25 include the entering of the " goats into everlasting cutting off=armageddon; the sheep into everlasting life= paradise".
therefore: the generation of wt anointed overlappers dying before armageddon to be raptured, is not what jesus said.
he said the generation will not pass, will survive, be alive , witness the entering into paradise.

Separation of Powers
It shows that when the fulfillment of prophecy is era-centric and interpreted by those that are ego-centric you end up with change after change to meet the needs of unfulfilled expectations. In order to keep the rank and file excited you have to CREATE urgency and the ONLY way to do that is to adjust...always adjust
